Chronic Inflammation- What Goes Awry with Body Organs?
Healing is a beautiful process in all the ways imaginable. Physical healing begins with inflammation as our body’s self-repair processes kick-off. The underlying reason one gets stiff fingers, muscle aches, bleeding gums, stomach ulcers, and so on- INFLAMMATION.
Inflammation is essentially our body’s first line of defense against infections, injuries, and toxins.
Notably, like too much of a good thing, inflammation can act as a holy traitor. From a healthy protective response to being a precursor to multi-organ dysfunctions, inflammation can snowball into years of suffering and before one is diagnosed, enough damage would have been done already.
Sustained and uncontrollable inflammation involves more than the perceptible cardinal signs of what generally is acute inflammation (Fig. 1), especially the prolonged low-grade form.
